When on the gas pedal the A/C switches to defrost outlets?
1995 F150 5.0 motor;
When I step on the gas pedal the air conditioner air-flow changes from forward facing vent outlets to the defroster outlets and sometimes floor outlets. The air will go back to the front vents when I return to crusing speed.
I was thinking the little silver canister under the dashboard with all the vacum lines might have an internal diaphragm leak. I reached under the dash (while accelerating) and I could feel the actuator arm (on the silver canister) moving forward. Obviously, this was functioning the damper in there. I zip-tied the little actuator arm and it'll stay on forward vents permanently. But i'm not really happy with this solution for the long term.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Had a similar problem with my 94. Check this post. There are a couple of pics of a vacuum line that commonly deteriorates.

broke white boy
look under the hood by the heater box, there is a white vac. line it is brittle and broke, replace it with something of the same size and you will back up and running.

Ford Truck Nut hit the nut right on the head. If it's not that particular vacuum line it's definately a leak in the HVAC system. When you push the gas pedal vacuum goes down to nothing and the system reverts to the default vent (defroster). gotta love these forums

Thanks Canaknight!! That's great you found the solution to this problem! I'm excited to finally fix mine.
Would you be so kind as to tell/show where this unscrupulous check valve is located?
Thanks again!
