When did the 1996 F-150 Production begin?
I have a 1995 F-150,and the Build Date on my Door Jamb in 7-1995.And I was looking at a 1996 F-150 that's For Sale, and the Build Date on the Door Jamb is 9-1995.So I was wondering if anyone knows what Month Ford began Production on the 96's,and when the 95's ended.Mine is definitely a late 1995,but I'm wondering just how late & how close to a 1996 it is...

You can probably find that information on the net. A '96 is first year OBDII (except a '95 Cal., I think) so I think the computer and all its components will be somewhat different.

They usually begin production about halfway through the current year. They'll most likely release the 2015 f150 in June or July. It's still a 96 . Unless its OBDI, then you got a leftover 95. That shouldn't be the case though.

lost my Car again...
my 94 was built in july 1993, there is some 95 f150s with odb2 under the hood. they started that about half way through due to emission laws in CA then 96 totally. as for having left over 95s that never happend i highly doubt there are any true 1996 f150s out there with odb1 system on board

I thought I read that Ford started putting OBD-II's in the last 1995's,but I wasn't sure. That's another reason I was wondering about the Build dates. So Collector the 1995's with the OBD-II's has the Plug under the Hood? On all my OBD-II Vehicles the Plug is under the Dash,is that where it is on the 1996's,or is it under the Hood also? Does anyone have a Picture of the under the Hood OBD-II Plug? I'd like to see exactly where it's at,and what it looks like...

95 or earlier model year vehicles with obd11 is strictly internet legend. I have cal emissions 95 build date 7-95 and it is sadly obd1. Cal emissions differences for sure are computer and converters are much larger.

I've never seen an OBDII '95 myself, just going by what others have said who assured me they had one. The manufacturers used to be able to run out old stock so you would have older year parts on newer year vehicles, but with the stricter emissions standards I would assume they planned ahead and threw out a couple OBDII '95s.

I would think it is owners looking at build dates not going by actual model year. But the cal emission 95 getting obd11 is definitely a myth. In another thread a poster mentioned "eastern state" emissions. They might have meant federal, because there is only cal and federal emissions. Back in the carb days there were high altitude builds. Anyway lot of misconceptions out there.
