I lightly greased my hubs where the locking hub sits inside the hub. I doubt it makes any difference functionally but I hate rust, and to make it easier to remove the hubs when I take it apart again.

if you only plan on doing this once, I wouldn't bother buying the tools. js. go to autozone/oreillys/advanced and rent the specialty tools you will need then get the money back when you return the tools. just a helpful money saving tip.

When my father in law did my bearings on mine he added the warn premium locking hubs that i had ordered. The only reason i didnt do it myself is i now live out of state and he has my truck for now. Oh dont use and impact on the spindle nut socket you will just mess up the tool and the nut. I have found that a breaker bar and some patients works very well for removing these nuts. As for greasing the locking hub components use the same grease as the bearings and just give em a slight coat so that there is a small ammount of suction and that will keep em in service for a long while. Be sure not to mess up the o ring on the hub also. If you plan on keeping the same rotors i would use a brass drift punch for knocking out the races if you dont have access to a good shop press. For installing them without the special die i have used a socket and the old bearing to drive it in place. Slow and steady wins the race here just be patient and take your time and do it right.
