Default whats this?



i know its something to do with vacum, but not exactly sure what for. the white line on it broke the other day and im wondering if i have to get her fixed.

That is the vacum line for the fresh air door.

It operates your hot\cold blend door for the hvac system.

i took out my ac a while back. does this poorly effect the heat?

No. It's the fresh air door. Hot/cold is cable driven.

Taking out the Ac has nothing to do with heat. However the defroster uses the Ac to dry the air, but it will still be hot without it.

Yea.. it will be hot but it wont be dry.. hot, moist air. Good luck clearing your ws when it fogs on the inside.

I haven't had ac in 2 years on my 95 and the defroster works super fast. You won't get much higher humidity than here in Louisiana. IMO, the fact that the ac compressor runs with the heat on is waste of power and shortens the life of the compressor. I have unplugged my ac for the winter on my 5.0. Gain in both power and mpg. Until the 90's, using the ac to lower humidity on the defroster pretty much unheard of and it's still not needed. Just my opinion and personal experience shows no need for the compressor to be running on defrost.

Even my '80s vehicles use the compressor for defrost. Not sure about my '70s one as the a/c never worked.
