Default What are these two gadgets?

Shown circled in red. One is on the floor to the left of the brake pedal. It can be clicked with the foot.

Another is some kind of box, I think related to towing, attached near the steering column. That one has a red light and a kind of slider mechanism that says 'energize'.

Would love to know what these are and what they're for.

the thing on the floor is your high/low beam switch

I'm guessing your in you 20s right? That switch on the floor is the highbeam switch for the headlight. It was there on most cars until the 80s then they started moving to the column. The box is a brake control for towing a heavy trailer with auto brakes.

And those handle things on the doors are for the windows going up and down.

So unless I hook up such a trailer I assume this box does nothing and it doesn't matter if the light is on or not..?
