What’s is this???
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...ef110603d.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...5f38ebfbd.jpeg I have a 88 lariat, and would like to know what this component is which is next to brake booster. It looks like a vacuum pump, but not sure. What is it, and what does it do??? |
Cruise control servo?
|
I guess it’s of no use now considering I have done a efi to carb conversion |
Yes, many carb vehicles have cruise control, and that servo was used from the late 70s until '92 (on F-series).

I was looking at it yesterday. Just looks like it needs hooking back up to vacuum port, and keep the cable piggybacked on throttle cable. I did notice the original vacuum can at front had originally imploded, sucked itself in, so must of had an original problem |
There is no cruise problem that could cause the vacuum reservoir to collapse. It gets full manifold vacuum all the time. Either it rusted in a very even way so that it became too weak, or something mechanically crushed it (like something stowed under the hood, or a collision).

Thanks guys, think I have it sorted now |
