Default What to do to squeeze the most power out of a 5.0

Alright guys i want the most power out of my 5.0. I already have a CAI, straight pipe exhaust past the cats, no headers yet. what else can i add to the engine or computer to kick up the ponies. without having to pull the engine and swapping cams and putting on a supercharger so on and so forth. any and all ideas would be appreciated

thanks

I have no advice other than the engine is nothing but a big air pump.

More air you get in the more you need to get out if you can get it in
and out decently the more fuel shes also going to want.

well u could go the route i did, i have a 1991 f150 xlt single cab short bed with a 5.0, first ditch the flat tappet and go with the hydraulic roller cam assembly, but i put a new trickflow top end kit, ie heads cam intake, although u will have to get a mustang ecu, on top of that a venom module, jet module motorvation custom tuned chip, and went away with the smog pump, i used a delete kit for a mustang, now im pushin 376hp w 319 foot pounds of tourque, ohh and a maf from summit

without opening it up there's not much you can do to the outside. A good cheap mod would be to get some gt40 heads and a cam.

anything else is just adding 2-5 hp here or there.

"time" sometimes thats the best thing. develop a plan of what you might want to do, research how to do it (mechanical stuff isn't that hard, i think sometimes its just having the tools) then get a budget together and save for what you want to. Believe me, wasting money on all the little stuff outside the engine is no where near worth what you can spend money on the inside of it!

Turn up the timing 13-15 degrees, lose smog, power steering and a/c, and run 93 or higher octane fuel and throw the nitrous to it. I ran a 175 shot on a 87 mustang 5.0 for 2yrs then just changed bearings and rings then ran it again.
