^^^Damn that's inspirational. I am hoping to pick up a new bed this week that matches my paint code - this seems like a good idea.

Installed a tach today. Pretty straight forward job thanks to the informative posts on the board. Only minor PITA was fishing the wires down through the dash. Not as pretty as it could be but it's fine for my purposes. Maybe I'll get some tape that matches the dash color and re-wrap it at some point.

Yesterday I replaced my rear u-joints (loud rumble and shuttering); front rotors and pads (jerky front end when stopping); rear drums and all hardware and emergency brakes cables (rusted frozen and grabbing drums); brake fluid; fan clutch (was not cooling very well) now have a VERY nice loud fan; and VSS and finally cleaned the MAF sensor. I jumped on interstate to get home and was up to 80 mph (could not drive any slower on I66) and drove like a dream and best in years. Next up is to replace the front u-joints. Surprised myself that I got so ambitious...

Have you considered drilling a hole just large enough for the wiring harness in the dash, removing the instrument panel and running the harness through the firewall that way. Then you wouldn't have the "tacky" look of wires wrapped in tape on the dash?

I debated that but didn't want to get into all of the additional work. At some point I may do it but for now, the wires don't bother me and everything is functional so I'm good.
