Mine still runs great, but still need a paint Job due to crappie paint from Ford back in 1991

Yeah, sulli8888 I have the same paint. Mostly hood, right?

Well, today I finished a long few weeks of troubleshooting, trying to pass SMOG and getting this old beast to run right. I've spent a lot of time under the hood the last month and today it paid off. It's running GREAT. It's been kept up okay but it'll be twenty five years old next year, so if parts were questionable I just replaced them.

Today I replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator which took me a while to figure out and was causing me a lot of headache.

In the last few weeks I have gone through and cleaned/replaced all the battery and ground connections. Cleaned up many wire harness connections and sensors with electronics cleaner. Replaced an ECT sensor, ACT sensor (took three tries to get one that worked!), and Idle Control Valve. Replaced all the vacuum lines with new silicone ones. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Ran Seafoam through it. New lower cat, muffler, tail pipe (nothing fancy, but not rusted through!) Cleaned up throttle body, EGR valve, etc. with carb cleaner (I think this might hurt the varnish on the throttle body, but I did it anyway.) Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. Runs great now.

It has always had the problem of missing when you let off the pedal and at certain low RPMs that seems so common with these. I was planning on making an EGR valve "restrictor plate" that I've read about after I got it SMOGed, but after everything I did, it doesn't even do it anymore!

Anyway, this place is great and has been a great resource for helping me keep my truck going strong.

Did a rear brake job, Motorcraft drums and shoes, and had to get couple wheel cylinders from O'Reillys. Stops on a dime now

Finished with the painting. This things are a PITA to paint. Lol. The frame flex also drops the cab down on them at full flex. Just rests on it though, so I'm not too worried about it. I need new body mounts anyways, so that will bring the body up some.

I tied to post pics of my rock sliders. Apparently not working now.
