Weird Whining sound when Revving/Accelerating

to clarify, it doesn't make any noise turning. and the power steering is full and works perfectly. it just feels as if something is sticking and rubbing against each other and it shouldn't be

And you said it does it when stopped too? In neutral (obviously with park brake applied)?

yes, it does it in park, and in neutral with the brake applied..

You have a serpentine belt right? Idler pulley? Or one of the other ones? If one of the pulleys is sticking it might do this. And if the belt is spinning on a pulley that isn't moving or is binding up it might be the burning smell.

hmmmmmmmm alright, i'll give that a look tomorrow... but would that make it so it didn't accelerate properly going down the road?

If its a bad pulley it could be slowing everything down.

haha well it goes down the road but i can't give it too much gas or it makes the whining and doesn't make it go any faster hardly and i start to smell that god awful smell

i can't really remember but i'd say more of a rubberish smell, not oil.
