Default Emerald Fireside... good to be home (blower pic added)

Well what can I say, I bought it site unseen and she's definitely begging for some help. The poor truck has been neglected.

So here we go folks... chime in and help where u can please.

1. Now with any new to me vehicle the first thing i do is replace all the fluids...
pop that rad cap off and well she's milky, and when she's running with the cap off she's bubbling the coolant like it was a pot of hot water.
Can we say head gasket? Busting out the compression tester today...
I need to know whats required to finish tightening up the rockers... certain torque spec... no feeler guage as she's a roller motor eh?

**coolant wasn't leaking into the oil but the compression was getting into the coolant passage**

2. Now there's some gad awful noise on startup and at about 3500+rpms... I was starting to think it was a main bearing or cam bearing but it's too loud and I eventually removed the serpentine belt and tried to fire up the truck and rev it. No noise so if it's just a pully then thats a big relief.

3. front fuel tank wont give me a reading for the guage but both tanks work and the rear tells me how much is in it... fuel mileage is a 1/4 tank for a 100kms

4. Will have to get into the dash as some idiot wired the radio to turn on with the dimmer function on the dash lights. Turned down the dash lights and the radio goes off. Also the power point is missing the actual plug in, wires are still there but the plug in itself in gone.

5. Clutch... damn thing clunks into gear, not smooth at all. wondering if the fluid just needs replacing.

6. Gotta bleed the brakes... damn it's dirty.

So all in all the truck made a 2500km trip in 48hrs from my parents place to home. She drank 4L of oil on the way but had no overheating problems as the temperatures were in the plus 2 to minus 10 Celsius.
Truck burns no oil so I think with a little work and patience she'll be back to newish standards.

I'll post a pic of my buddy kenne bell riding shotgun. Seatbelt on... safety first lol.

What year of truck and engine is it? I can post some specs for you but i need more to work on

As for the rest of your problems, for that noise try spinning some pullies by hand and feel for some play like the alternator, compressor clutch (if it has one), waterpump, clutch fan smog pump, steering pump etc.

You probably have a bad/stuck sending unit in the front tank, fortunately they are easier to replace than the rear tank units.

If you can find a diagram for the radio wires that will help cause i don't remember the color codes for the radio, i had a paper on that somewhere when i did mine, but then i found a harness for it so i didn't cut the wires.

See if you need to pump the clutch and top off the fluid, if its clunking it may not be releasing fully if the clutch feels soft or has alot of play in it.

Still for a neglected truck not a bad first trial by fire like that to loosen up some dirt and rust

date on the sticker is: 09/93 meaning it was one of the first 94s.
motor is a 5L
rear axle is H9
Body was C63, single cab/step side box.

The main thing I'm looking for is how to finish off a head replacement. Once I've got the head back on and rods in place. Whats the steps for putting the rockers back on. Everything else should be a piece of cake.

Default Introducing my buddy kenne bell.

notice the enter and exit tubes that have been welded onto the unit. This blower is 1 of 5 or so in north america that is fabricated to accept a front mount intercooler.
