Vehicle wrecks

Well last night was fun... A buddy of mine got his Grand Cherokee stuck in a 4ft snow drift. So I went a half hour out of town to pull his Jeep out at 1:30am. He was super stuck, and in the process of getting him out this happened to my truck. Ripped the bumper right off the passenger side mounts and bent it to ****...so that's cool. Had to get a tow truck to come out and winch him out. The 88 GM 3500 tow truck, with cleats, wheel blocks, and hydraulic stabilizer bars was being pulled backwards by the winch and my buddies Jeep wasn't moving an inch. Had to get two tow trucks chained front to back to get him out. He was in WAY over his head...or frame.

I am NOT an isurance agent, but I AM a customer of an insurance customer like the rest of us. You get what you pay for. When you purchase a policy make sure they know what you are insuring. We have old trucks... Personally I don't have crash/comprehensive coverage, it's a '95 model. If you have some cheepo internet insurance or minimum coverage with a major company BEWARE! Speakers, Amps, Tool boxes, big tires/wheels, bumpers, may not be covered unless you tell them in advance. In other words, make sure you know what you're buying. Don't wait until you have a loss.

No I tied off to the hitch. I was yanking on him because applying slow even pressure was doing jack ****. The passenger side mounting bracket bolts were weakened already from rust and crap. I was actually going to replace them next week...oh well. I guess "better late than never" doesn't apply here. I was being stupid and putting way too much pressure on the bumper. I was using a tow strap with 50,000lbs breaking strength and got a little carried away with the tugging.

Yes I do. On my junk yard excursions to find a new bumper I'm going to get a hitch. I've got the front hitch...maybe I should have pulled from that one. Oh well..you live and learn.
