unless you have a good machine shop then call mmr and have them build you a motor...your going to need a good amount of work to hit 400 and be reliable...everything from fuel to internals to management is going to be needed....dont cheap out...that 400 isnt a hard goal just one that takes alot of planning to hit

honestly my friend you need alot more reading if your asking this many questions, your going to do heads id assume, so id machine the tb all the way to the heads, exhaust included, then id shave the deck and get it ready for a good h/g, then id have my block redone, inside and out with at least a hot tank and a hone but you may need to be bored out a little depending on the insides...then your going to want you crank balanced, the new piston/rod combo installed with new rings and bearings, all new hardware, i recommend arp, then add a new cam, i cant realy point you to a particular...its mostly for your application, your tuner should point you there, then your going to want to replace water, oil and anyother pumps as your motor is almost 20 years old and its just a good time to do it while its appart. it sounds like alot but shouldnt cost more then 500 to do the motor, have you looked into what valve train your going to run, also whats your budget
