not entirely unusual to see the dust cover loose and bent or misplaced.

This in itself, should not be a reason for the truck to stop working.

A few more details would be of use.

Default As I was driving I slowly started to lose engine power in 4th gear, it started

As I was driving I slowly started to lose engine power in 4th gear, it was struggling so I shifted to third and the process started again and rpms slowly went down, then it stopped running, I sprayed ether in and it started after it sat for a while, engine reved when I pushed gas pedal. The engine slowly died afterward. It wasn't running as good as it normally does when it was running.

Default fuel pressure

I'm certainly not an expert here, but I would think that you would want to check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. try giving some additional information.

I had a similar issue on my truck. It was a bad headgasket sucking in all the coolant, and burning it. The engine would overheat, and die.

Check coolant levels, and look for sludge around the exhaust manifolds.

Default Fun fun!

it looks like it's the fuel pump, pulled hose off and tried to start engine nothing came out of hose, fuel pump is on the frame rail and easy to get to. It's kinda a hack job the way they deleted the rear tank. Thanks and I figured out my e brake alsoonly one side was connected so that the one that was connected was considerably looser. Gonna run new fuel lines anyway. I figure if I replace correctly I won't have to mess with it again. How many gallons is the front tank?

A fuel pressure tester can be had for under $25. A must-have tool if you're rolling on anything fuel injected. Also check for trouble codes.
