Truck Pees Coolant When Plugged In
 

So temps are getting down to the 10s up here in central Alaska. Plugging in my F-150 at night is a regular practice. However, every morning I come out to find a puddle of radiator fluid under it. Truck has no leaks when I drive, idle, whatever. Just when I plug it in. No idea what's going on.

dont think it has anything to do with being plugged in haha but it might just be refilling the coolant reserve tooo uch. i'd say the radiator cap first

Block heater seal expanding differently when electricity is in effect? Only thing I could think of, had the puddle thing happen on my 87 Bronco once, ended up just replacing the block heater and never happened again.

You would think a person would look at themselves & think,"I don't have enough hair/fur on my body for this. What am I doing here & where did I put those suitcases!"

Anyway, try to follow the leak to it's origin (if possible).

If someone plugged me into a socket I'd pee some too.

I was going to go w/ something like "a heating pad to melt the bladder enough to actually Pee", but once again, I defer the the "master of one liner". :notworthy:

On topic though, a little more specific info. Got home last night and parked in the driveway over some fresh snow, didn't plug it in. Come out this morning and find nothing amiss, no anti-freeze on the ground, doesn't smell like it's leaking anywhere, everything is peachy. So I plug it in right then and go inside for a few hours. Come back out and I hear a hissing sound with about a dinner plate sized puddle of coolant on the ground. Should I just replace the block heater? Come January it'll be in the -20s. Plugging vehicles in is mandatory.
