Default trany flush

I have a 1995 f-150 5.8L with 121,000. Just bought it. Should I flush out the trany for preventative maint?

Absolutely. And don't buy into that whole "trans flush makes the trans go bad" myth. It is just that. A myth.

Default tranny flush

thx...I did hear that if I flush a tranny that has never had problems, I could creat some. I was told to drop the pan, change the filter, then replace the tran oil and yer dun!
Tranny flush is new to me as I never have done one.

We started the first trans flush om my wifes Explorer 4.0 @ 50,000 per service manual instructions. The fluid that came out was all but burnt! Since then it gets flushed every 40,000. The fluid ALWAYS comes out a nice cherry red! I have used it for towing many times, hauled campers and what ever. It's closing in on 200,000 miles and it runs and drives like new.

Don't forget the torque converter, if it has a drain plug that is. My E4OD had maybe 8-10 quarts in the converter when I done a full drain/filter change on it.

Default Tranny flush

Is this something that I can do myself OR is it just cheaper and easier to have a service station like AAMCO do it?

Do you know what transmission you have? Is it the E4OD or the 4R70W or something else? That helps for us to make suggestions.

As far as the AAMCO question, this should be something you can do yourself. Especially if your torque converter has the drain plug. That makes it very easy.

Read the trans code on your doorjamb sticker and either google it or post it here. I know my 91 has trans code E and it is a E4OD.
