I have a 94 F-150 w/ the 5.0 4spd auto w/ od. How do I figure out which transmission I have?

 

is there 4 gears then over drive or 3 gears then overdrive? and crawl underneath and get the number on the case.

 

OD is a fourth gear, now matter which auto has made for that model year. Its most likely an E4OD.

*Direct drive is a third gear function and TC engagement/disengagement is NOT a ratio function.

hey, whatevah! no biggie. Ive actually had a forum member tell me that a 4 speed auto actually has 5 speeds

 

well neutral is technically a gear LOL jk

 

Reverse is also lol. So technically it has 7 gears lmfao!!!! I want a 6 speed auto for my truck dammit!!!!

 

LOL id like to find a 10 gear manual trans that can bolt to my f150 so i can fell like a big rig shifting every 3 mph

 

Do you have a OD off switch on your gear shifter, if not you will have a AOD. If you do check the number of bolts on the transmission pan, if you have 14 bolts you have the AODE with more bolts you will have the E4OD.
