TPS changed idle
'92 F150 5.0, I put in a new throttle position sensor, it made the idle go up 300 rpms. What would cause this? Thinking of putting the old one back on and see if it goes back to normal. Also, backed off throttle screw about a 1/4 inch to get idle back to normal. Now throttle assembly springs will only bring idle down to 1100 rpms. Any ideas would help. Thanks.
Did you just put it on, or adjust it ?
You have to use a multimeter to test the signal wire and loosen the screws that hold it enough to move it till the signal is exactly .9 volts at closed throttle.
If you signal at closed throttle is say, 1.2 volts that makes the PCM think you have your foot on the gas a little and it will feed extra gas.
Read my post from way back somewhere called 'testing the TPS'. You just have to do the signal wire part, but if your voltage is higher than .9 you'll have to take the throttle body back off, turn it over and adjust the TPS.
