Default Todays new Rant...Rattles..!!!!

I have had it....

I mean really had it...I have a rattle on the Passenger side of my truck that is driving me NUTS...to the point I am ready to tear down the truck to find it...

I have replaced the Radius Rod Bushings and Brackets, Springs and Shocks (had a broken spring) and today I replaced both Upper and Lower Ball Joints on that side as well...

the rattle is still there...Now it sounds like a broken shock...so I took the shock off and it still makes the noise just not as often...I think the stiffness of the shock helps to jars whatever in the hell is loose to rattle...

I tested the shock to be fine but for giggles I took it back and got another new one....made the rattle 1st bump I hit...

I banged on the fender well and nothing is loose...I took the I-Beams loose and the Pivot Bushings are fine...no wear at all and tight so it isnt that...

Drivers side is fine I can hit bumps and it doesnt make a noise but the passenger side will do it with pretty much every crack in the road...

I bounced the truck and I cannot simulate the noise sitting still...only rolling...does it more going slow...faster than 45mph it doesnt do it very often...

all I know is this damn rattle is driving me nuts....what the hell could it be...

definitely front and passenger side...sounds like under the floor board...but nothing loose there...and sounds right at the tire and only when hitting a bump...

any of you guys got any ideas...? and no this truck doesnt have a sway bar...

I am 500.00 into this so far and still dont have a clue...I even removed the tire iron and jack to make sure the tire iron wasnt hitting the hole it slides thru...wasnt it either...

ut, oh! It sounds like I have the same rattle, only it doesn't seem to bother me as bad Like I said in another post, I'm going to rebuild the front end of my truck after the 1st of the year, if you don't find it by then and I come up with something, I'll be sure to post it here.

Good luck.

not in the brakes either...pads are tight as hell with the added clips top and bottom and the caliper bolts are secure...checked that too...it rattles even with your foot on the brake...

You should try having rattles with 135+ db every day.

I wonder if the top of the coil spring is slapping the cup making a rattling noise while hitting bumps. You could put something above it to dampen it and see if that works.

A loose retainer bracket on my leaf springs haunted me for a while. How about a loose "thru the fender" bolt? Or slop in one of the exhaust system hangers.
