Default tire size opinions

I'm getting a new set of tires for my truck here in the next couple of weeks. I'm looking for the widest tire I can get with the stock rim while staying as close as possible to stock height. I got on summit racing and set 7.5" as the minimum recommended wheel width and came up with a size of 275/60r15.

I'm looking at the cooper cobra radial gt's because I like the raised white lettered sidewall and the semi-aggressive tread pattern. How do you guys think this size will fit/look on the stock rim?

Decide for yourself:

The chevy is on 15x8s but close for you to tell.

I put 32 11.50's on stock 7 1/2" rims and they're ok. 12.50 would be pushing it a little too much I think.
But they rub on the radius arms. My son's 31 10.50's do too.
Stock size or rubbing. It is what it is.
But I can still get into a tight parking spot ok, these trucks turn sharper than most other vehicles anyway.

275/60/15 is as big as you want to go. Also remember that you need to keep the same tire height if you want your speedo to read correctly.

According to summit these tires have a 28.06 inch diameter.

It shows a 235/75r15 (stock size) as having a 28.65 inch diameter. Think that's close enough to not be a problem?

I have decided to go with the 275/60's. I want that low wide tire look and this size is real close to stock height but quite a bit wider. I've looked at tons of pics of trucks with this size and it looks great.

I also want to install drop shackles to bring the rear down level with the front. I'm looking at either the djm's on summit or some on eBay. Are they any good and do they actually lower the rear 2"?

Also what is you guy's opinion on wheel spacers? The kind that bolt on and have their own studs. I want to get 2" ones to make the tires stick out a bit.

I personally have always heard that wheel spacers aren't very good because it puts more stress on your front end but if you aren't worried about that then I guess go for it.
The lowering I can't help you with because I have never looked into lowering a truck and I am pretty sure it is a lot different then a fox body stang.

Wheel spacers or offset wheels do put extra strain on your wheel bearings. It's due to leverage. But it's done all the time and gets you away from rubbing on the radius arms.

The lowering shackles do work, I'd get DJM or Belltech even if they run a couple extra bucks. It's a part that you want to be of a trusted quality.
