bolded it for you....

I just did this this weekend...

I drained all the fluid and changed the filter which was partially plugged...

I would use the Lucas...I put in 2 quarts of fluid and then the quart of Lucas...then 3 more quarts of fluid...fired it up and added 8 more quarts right away..then I shifted it from park to drive to reverse and so on...while checking and adding the fluid...

if you work the truck a bit or drive alot I would recommend 2 bottles of Lucas...

Adding Lucas is a suggestion not to be taken lightly, I use it in every fluid change they make a product for...The reusable gasket is why I'm posting however. Carefully inspect it when its removed. Just because its reusable does not automatically mean throw it back on there. Made this mistake once with a Buick and had to re-do it two months later because I was leaking too much. It should be readily obvious if you can reuse it or not, so don't over-emphasize my warning.

well finally had a no wind day so i changed my fluid and filter. what a pain. thought i could lean the pan enough to get most of the fluid out, naa, ended up holding it until last bolt was out then dumping it in the container, wasnt to bad. funny though the filter was laying in the pan. i know the pan holds it up but figured it shouldnt have just fall down with the pan. really nothing in the pan and very little black, like really super fine metal, around the big magnet inside the pan. so it looked good. but its done and seems to shift a little better. the only funny thing now is that the dipstick reads at the top of the hexed marks but only on that side, on the other side of the dipstick it doesnt read. i guess thats the way it suppose to work and yes i even drove it a few miles and rechecked it.

well i was down on my dipstick enough to add lucas. i almost stopped when i saw how thick it was, i mean its like molasses. i guess thats how it suppose to be. anyway after about 1/2 hour i finally got it in. first thing i noticed was how smooth it shifts now. time will tell how it works out.

I had the same immediate results in my 4R70W trans. I'm also in the "time will tell" phase. It's been about a month and the shifts are still smooth but, the tranny has got a new trick up it's sleeve. Just this morning after making a turn it MISSED the shift to 2nd! It was like I was driving a manual and popped it out of gear! I backed off the gas and it shifted smoothly, hasn't happened again. (about 50 miles later)

So, "we shall see"

I swear by the stuff....I used it in my 88 GM truck and the tranny lasted longer than the torque converter....trashed that playing a little too much...lol
