Default Temp GAUGE barely reads

like the title say my temp gauge barely moves. i replaced the radiator awhile ago. i went from a single core to a dual core. but the gauge still would move. when off and cold the needle sits below the c. and would move a quarter of the way up the gauge. now it barely moves to the other side of the c. i have heard there two sensors the engine temp sensor and another for the gauge.

Would anyone know where these sensors are? and or what else i could try to get a good reading.

What engine do you have? The temp sensors are in different locations, one for the guage the other for the computer.

He said it worked then he put a larger radiator in it. Unless he knocked the wire off or the sensor happened to go bad he is describing the way my trucks gauge works too.

it has a 302 i should of said that. and it does move when it is low on coolant. the radiator i got has two spots to plug the overflow bottle hose into. so one gets a plug and that tends to go bad and it will leak. plus i get great heat so i think it gets to temp. this past week the gauge has just decided to hardly move. this why i am leaning to a bad sensor

The other hookup is supposed to hook to a tee on the heater hose, to help purge air out of the system. I took it from the junkyard truck I got the radiator from.

Is the engine actually getting warm? Sure the thermostat isn't stuck open?
