Unhappy Tell me it's not that bad...

So here's the problem. Brother borrowed and while being driven it overheated and did some pretty bad shake/loss of power. They pulled over and then went back a couple hours later and drove it a few miles and did it again. So finally a couple of nights ago I go to where the truck was parked, check the oil, was nearly non-existent on the dipstick. Added oil.

Checked the coolant, overflow reservoir was fine, but radiator was empty. Added coolant and drove the truck home, at first there was some billowy white smoke and then it went away after about 50 feet.

Went out this morning to check things out, radiator was empty again, and there was evidence of a leak. So I added some water to the radiator. Immediately there's a leak. From what I can tell it's coming from about halfway back on the driver side about smack in the middle of the engine level... I don't really see any hoses.

Am I correct in assuming it's probably a blown head gasket or something equally damning?

From what I can tell (without being able to be under the truck) it appears to be coming from somewhere up near/behind the exhaust manifold...

It's hard to say. But it would be easier with some pics?

It sounds like a soft plug on the side of the engine block and it not hard to change as long as there not a lot of thing to get in the way. If its a head gasket there will be moister on the inside of the oil cap that looks white creamy color and look at the radiator cap seal and run your finger around it and see if there any oil there. But to me it sounds like a soft plug $1.59 part and up to hour or more repair time.

Ok, so here we go for the pics, it's definitely leaking from somewhere up behind the exhaust manifold. Don't mind the rest of the water it was rainy here for a bit and I had the hood up.

I'll have to get down in there, what am I looking to see if it's a soft plug? I didn't notice any milky foam or anything in the oil, and the radiator cap looks clean.

How does one go about changing the softplug/freezplug then? Is it hard?
