My truck is really loud (im sure my neighbors like that I leave at 4:50 am) it's no cats and a dual in dual out muffler. Plenty of power for 35s

With my 4.9, I went from 17mpg stock to better than 20 by gutting the cats and adding a straight thu muffler. Canadian gallons are a little bigger so the numbers wouldn't match in the USA but it should be about the same percentage of gain,
IMO the ford muffler is almost like a cork in the pipe, anything would flow better.

Mine was like that when I got it. The problem with a Loud truck most people tend to stay in the upper rpm so everyone hears them coming... Hence bad mpg.

If your still down a cylinder on your motor you may not see any gains in MPG's

I swear I get worse mileage in my 351, but maybe It's because I have trouble not leaning on the pedal a bit with a truck that sounds like that!

Same when I straight piped mine.

Everyone who has done it usually sees a decrease in MPG's because they run it at a higher RPM to get that sound and loudness
