get a wiring diagram for your new unit and compare it to one of your old unit, and make sure your connections are right to another wiring diagram for your truck. It took me a while to find the one for my truck online, but the other two should be pretty easy (just look up the user manual). Also, if you just connect the new one the same way as your old one, you won't need a wiring diagram for your truck. Make sure you don't just connect the wire colors the same, you have to connect the wire functions the same (so it's not necessarily red to red, etc., rather it's acc power to acc power, constant to constant, etc.)

Let me be totally stupid for a minute and ask if you're turning it on right. It is a new radio. Did you try it on display at the store to see how it functions? Maybe you need to hold the power button longer to turn it on? Stick in a CD and see if it takes it?

I didnt get to mess with it on display, but I did try a couple of things.

1) I held the power button for almost 30 sec nothing

2) We tried to power it on DIRECTLY from the battery and it still didn't work.

3) We plugged it into another car using a Pioneer wiring harness in their which we knew was good and it still didn't work. Looks as if I hae got two bad units.

I am going to return it to Best Buy yet again, but I am going to buy another reciever this time. If we still have "no dice" then I am gonna take it somewhere.

I also did a simple search on the unit, and came up with numerous reports saying "problems with wiring kit, does not come on. I found this to be a common probelm. BEWARE!"

the place you buy it from should install it for free, but I don't know since you cut out your wiring harness (and they'd probably make you buy another wiring harness adapter even if you hadn't)

I bought it from Best Buy and they want $50 to install it, plus the cost of wiring harnesses. Total it was gonna cost $105. Just to install!

The previous stereo was hardwired in, from the previous owner. That's why I am hard wiring, rather than spending more than I have to.

Some wiring harnesses come with an in-line fuse. maybe that fuse is busted. But pioneer is basically crap now anyways. They used to be a lot better than they are now, so I wouldn't be surprised if its a fault in the unit or their wiring. They got cheap, its always a tell tale sign when walmart carries them. I'd go kenwood if you're trying a different brand.

There is no power to the red wire or constant. So we are gonna run a line straight to the battery. Just to get this darn thing working!

What wire would I need?

I have 13V on my ignition wire..But nothing on my constant. Wouldnt the stereo still turn on? Since it has power to the ignition?

I think they both need to have power. When I was switching mine out I had power to the constant but not the acc (ignition) wire, and it wouldn't work. Check your fuses if you're not getting power to the ignition wire. I thought I had my problem solved when I found the busted fuse, but there ended up being two that were toasted. The ACC wire and constant wire to your radio are on two different fuses.
