Spitting Trans fluid

I have a 90 f150 5.0 that just started spitting trans fluid from the dip stick tube yesterday . what is the cause of this? i haven't had a dipstick for a year and this is the 1st time that this has happened. its not over filled because the trans starts slipping right after it spits then i add fluid and shes back to normal no slip.can someone please tell me why is this happening? thanx Darrin. One last thing how can i I. D. my transmission i have to manually put it into OD after about 45MPH so I know its not a AOD.

I'm wondering if your Trans. cooling coil is restricted? Somethings restricted! Next time you need to top it off, dump in a can of "Transtune"! When was to last time you serviced your Trans. including filter change? The more I think about it, a restricted filter would back up the collection reservoir (Pan).

It sounds like you have an E4OD by where OD comes in at.

I still think you should run some Transtune thru it prior to change to open up the portways and cooling coil.
