I have a std cab 89 f250 and some pioneer 6x9 speakers to go behind the seat. Ive been looking and haven't found much on this topic, but any recomendation on box sizes for a std cab with a bench seat in the furthest back position? I tried mocking up sizes in cardboard, but its tedious. I know 92-96 interior panels have grilles for factory rears, but they are 6X8/5X7 and would require even more mods for a 6x9 to work. Not looking for professional stuff, just an economical enclosure that would hold them.

Don't waste your time on 6x9s, in my experience they aren't worth it.

Either way, I had them behind my seat, all the way back. Box was 7 inches wide and fit well. Then I had a 10 behind the seat. I've since changed that to downfire on the tranny hump and basically made it a center console

I've got two 6x9 boxes and an old old truck box that holds a 10 and two 6.5's with two horn tweeters and still have full motion of the seat, granted the box has seen better days.

2000MTZ if you could get a picture of how they look, I would be very appreciative. I want to use the speakers because they came with a stereo I got, 4 speakers (2 6x9s and 2 6.5s that fit in the door perfectly)and a pioneer head unit. Theres several styles of speaker boxes and I found some very good prices on amazon.com.

Inserting 6x9's into the 6x8 speaker holes behind the trim doesn't take much modification at all.

sylver91, it would take work to fit the 6x8s period in the 87-91 cab with those panels, I inquired about that in this thread https://www.f150forum.com/f10/where-...131466/index3/

Well if its just a cut hole, why not open it up and put covers over the speakers? Or even swap trim panels if they fit, not sure.

Otherwise I'd look for something a bit bigger than 6x9's in boxes behind the seat. They don't seem to sound as good and get muffled by the seat, seeing as my buddies Ranger has the same setup. But if you want to, just get some plywood and measure what room you have and maybe port them.

Most store bought ones I've seen never fit right.
