Default Spark plug information

I have for years followed the adage that you put expensive plugs in small motors and cheaper ones in big motors. I ran champion plugs in my XJ 4.0 I6 and never had problems. I run Iridium IX's in my little 1.6L kia.

Any recomendations on plugs for a 95 F150 5.0?

I would assume that I would still use cheaper plugs, and spend the money on the Coil, wires, and Distributor cap.

Copper core for sure, I went copper core platinum tip just because they are supposed to hold the gap better, they were only like $0.50 more than the straight coppers, plus I got a rebate on the plugs so I think it ended up costing the same.

Plain cheap Autolite is what I use.

To add, with the rotor button, you should use Motorcraft DR374B. Haven't seen a better quality piece yet.

I've had the best luck with Motorcraft coppers.

What makes a rotor better than other rotors? Purely Curious.

I figured good old copper plugs would be the best. I always used MSD parts for my wires and caps, but they don't make a rotor, so I am thankful for the advice, I just wonder why its better.

In my opinion the differences between rotors isn't about the metals or plastics used. It's about the build quality. Tighter tolerances. Stuff like that. On Ford I've always used Motorcraft, good build quality and reasonable prices.

Everybody always says that these trucks run better with copper than platinum, does anybody know why that is?

Well, it's all dependent on the engine, but platinum is more for longevity. Copper is a better conductor.

This is why I got the copper core/platinum tip. You get the conductivity of the copper without the spreading gap of the steel tip, which is what the basic plugs have. Spend the extra $2-4 bucks and get something like ACDelco RapidFire (what I use), copper core/plat tip. Instead of replacing after 20-30k miles these puppies will still be going strong past 50K miles.

A good thread about specs and pro/con of spark plugs:
