Default Sliding rear window steel latch

after some reading I have found a steel sliding rear window latch that will work on these trucks, it takes a little bit of drilling on the latch since the holes are not quite exact, but it latches good and tight and the price isn't much more than a doorman one. I can get pics of it on the window if someone wants to see how it looks.

Sweet awesome find dude. I replaced mine last year with the doorman and it lasted a month. Needless to say I haven't had one since then.

Chevy pick up mid 80's rear window lock works too. Direct bolt on from the salvage yard....$1.

Key thing here is its Steel, not the flimsy plastic crap that came on these trucks, and Kickprivate, thats aint a lock, its a latch, same type as original. your talking about the latch on pg 12 of the online catalog, top of the page #49-6836? its the same thing that breaks the first time you use it, at least the one on mine did. no offense man, just trying to make sure were talking about the same part.

I have a metal latch in my truck and if you have a sub get ready for rattling.

Subwoofers rattle a heck of lot more stuff than just a window latch. I don't have any, so that ain't a problem

The metal latch that I grabbed off of a mid 80's Silverado has never rattled and closes firm, but not too tight. No rattle what so ever. The only mod I had to do was to open the screw holes up just slightly. The Chevy latch used smaller screws than the Ford. The screw holes were identical in the window frames.

I've got one on mine from a mid '90s Chevy. It doesn't fit quite right, I have to modify it still but it does look like the window is locked.
