Funny you guys are talking about blacking out trim. I just got a black grille and headlight bezels shipped to change out the chrome on my xlt. I already switched the old rusty chrome bumper and it's getting painted black now. She's still in the paint shop, but I hope to be switching this stuff out soon. I'll still need to paint the rear bumper (chrome isn't looking too hot on it, but it's not in too bad of shape) and I will eventually order some black side mirrors. I stripped the side molding and plan on going with a simple pinstripe. I think they look good blacked out, but that's just me.

I have love for both looks. Chrome looks so sweet on a full restoration and all polished up. But the blacked out (or monochrome) look of a lightening can be sweet too. This truck is for work and play. If it was a street rod or weekend cruiser, I love chrome. But I like the black on red combo too. Gives it a tougher look in my opinion.

But, just like the Mustang, there's so many customization options, and that's a great thing. The F150 is just as much of an icon as the Mustang is.

Only reason I dislike chrome is when on plastic it peels so easily. Ny 88 has chrome bumper, wheels, soon to have brush guard, and windshield trim the rest is black except the body which is white.

The chrome on my 66 chevelle seemed alot more durable. The chrome today is really plasticy. I was surprised when I pulled the headlight bezels off and they weighed four ounces, it seemed. I remember the chrome pieces on the chevelle having a chunky thud when you laid them down.

The chrome on my bike is also only metal chrome. It just seems where I live that chrome on plastic doesn't agree.
