Shifter won't engage any gear

After replacing the clutch this week, I'm having a smiliar problem. I can't the tranny out of reverse. I p poked around inside the top of the tranny with a screw driver and saw those "two bearing type things" and noted how they pushed in.
But what do you mean by "I took a gamble and pulled the furthest one to the center and it popped right over." What popped right over?

fixing problem
When I looked at the two ball bearing things they were not side bye side and only one was in center so I put the screw driver in front of the bearing that was off center and pulled in to center so that both bearings would be side by side and shifter goes in between the two bearings..

1994 Ford F-150 XLT
Howdy
I have a 1994 Ford F-150 XLT with a 5.0 motor auto trans. The truck brake light will not come on. The shifter when the truck is running will not go in gear. When the truck is not running but switch on will go in gear. Can not find out what the problem is. I have change out the switch on the brake petal. Dose anyone have a idea what this could be?

You should put ALL the truck's details & history (as much as you know) into your signature so it shows with each post, as this page explains:
