You can use a screwdriver just as easy as a brake spoon. There is a leading and trailing shoe. The one with the longer pad goes on the rear.

That is an amazing help! I'll study that before I tear into it. I need to pay my tuition in a couple days then next paycheck should have this fixed! I can't wait to drive this thing again, it's been 3 weeks. I miss my baby

The special wrench is a "line" or "flare nut " wrench. You can get them in your favorite tool brand. ( craftsman snap on Matco powerbuilt, etc.). They wrap 3/4 around the fitting like a box end wrench with a notch cut out so it grips the soft brass nut better. And I've said it before and ill say it again you should have a Chiltons or Hayes manual for you vehicle before you park it in your driveway the first time.

I've got one for my motorcycle, just not the truck. Haven't actually needed it yet, this is the first big thing since I bought the truck I'm going to do. Aside from this its just needed new coolant, water pump, radiator, and a pitman arm seal (shop). It's been dead reliable for 40k miles

They are like 30 bucks right?

I'll add that to the shopping list for sure. I don't want to go into this blind. I'll mess with the things that make it go, but I can't mess up the things that make it stop lol
