Seat mounted cup holder question

Hi,
I need some help. I bought a seat mounted cup holder & mounting screws. I am trying to figure out the proper way to attach the screws to my 94 XL F150 bench seat. (This cup holder - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-96...2em118Q2el1247 )
I am not sure exactly where the screws go in. I felt the front of the benchseat from the bottom up and there seems to be a metal rail that goes up about an inch, then it feels like there is a second metal bar.

Does anyone know how to attach the seat mounted cup holder to the bench seat? Should I drill into the bottom or top rail? Am I suppose to drill a pilot hole then use the mounting screws to do the rest? (They look like self tapping screws.) About how high should the holes be from the bottom of the seat? If you have any pictures feel free to send them along.

Thanks you very much I really appreciate the help!!,
Tom

I am not sure, I have not seen this type of cupholder in person on a truck before, but it looks like it is molded to fit onto an armrest(?) maybe? Or the side of a bucket seat? I really don't know what else to think. The mounting holes look like they are meant to slide over screws that are already in place.

Thanks for responding. Here is an image I found on Ebay of the installed cup holder.

Okay, like a mini-console!

It would certainly have to clear the transmission hump once it was installed. Have you tried holding the cupholder up to the seat in a similar position as in the picture? That should help you decide which bar would be best to attach it to.

My truck has the console.. It has 2 cup holders and a small like copy hole on the front. Will try and get pictures posted for you and see where the mounting screws go.

Ohh great, thanks. I think there are 2 different versions of the cup holders but the mounting screws should be the same for both cup holders. I look forward to seeing th pictures.

I wanted to thank everyone for the help. I ended up drilling a pilot and then using the self drilling screws to do the rest. I used a larger bit for the first pilot which seemed to be a touch loose in the end but using a smaller bit on the second mounting screw solved the problem so that the second screw was snug. (The screws are mounted about 5.25 inches apart horizontally and mounted a touch over 1.5 inches from the bottom.) The cup holder seems to work great. Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it.
