When I picked up my 87' up in Oregon & drove it back down to Calimexifornia, it would barely do the speed limit, was only getting 8-9 MPH, & spit out enough codes to fill two lotto tickets w/o duplicating numbers.

Fail safe mode = Horrible MPG. You'll save the cost of the replacement ECU in gas, in almost no time. Not to mention, you're loading the combustion chambers w/ deposits & absolutely no additional ECU timing advance. Must be like driving one of those "Autotopia" cars at Disneyland!

the way i found out was atemting to scan for codes the problem was i was not getting anything from it just a solid red light or no sweeping so if the codes don't show up its shot and you'll need a new one. but its just 3 bolts but i do recommend to at least loosen the plastic fender shroud so you can slide it out easier.
