I honestly don't see the point of a tire on a roof rack its very common around here on SUVs you really want to climb up top there and pull it down when you got a flat tire on the side of the road in the middle of a down pour? i just find it silly to put it up so high. I got mine on the back of the truck using a bronco tailgate swing away easy access adds a cool look to the truck and adds weight on the back as well I pick my mods with practicality in mind just like the roof rack i want to build 1 for lights front side and rear for my truck then storage of a jack shovel possibly traction ladders extra water jugs and a tent possibly basically if i ever break down id be set for a week before ill need to call AAA if i can't fix it with all the tools i carry in the back

some people just like the tire up there, i thought about putting my spare there, but anymore it will probably be more like that super duty has. id rather climb in the bed of my truck in the rain then lay on the ground lol. your idea is cool (bronco tailgate) but its not something id do.

To each is own, I tend to think about every senario, I have 2 spair belts set of plug wires set of spark plugs tentioner fix a flat plus a full size spair then a smaller spair if i lose a front tire, full ratchet set breaker bar slimjim tools and more tools haha gas can 3 gallons of water(summer time) 3 MRES hunting knife spool of fishing line small tackel kit, batton, big box of matches emergency flashlight/ recharger and more. . you can see my point haha I am ready for anything and carry most of it all the time. never thought of a tire on my roof especially lifted trucks

have you thought about the factory in bed tire mount? just have to move the hole up a bit more for the 35

Most people don't use the spare much anyways. I wanted easy access too. You could also convert a lumber rack into a roof rack, which is pretty much what they are.
