Reverse light switch
I don't have working back up/reverse lights on my truck. I checked the fuse and voltage to the fuse box and bulbs. All good. So i am assuming that it is the reverse light switch. After some searching, i believe this should be on the transmission, drivers side. Trouble is i can't see anything other than the shift selector. Hopefully there are some pictures attached - one showing where the reverse light switch might be meant to be, one showing a connector with a wire coming out and then back in on itself. I believe at some point in its past, the engine was changed on this truck. The plate on the door says i have transmission E. Is there any chance that the reverse light switch was removed, and the circuit now controlled by the shift selector?

Yes, the MLPS contains the reverse light switch. Click this & read the caption:
