Replacing Vac Lines On A 4.9L EFI Engine!
Hi,
I'm looking at replacing vac lines on my 89 F-150 4.9L.
I noticed vac lines going under the air intake next to the fuel rail?
I need to get a light and look better but it seems that to get to these I might have to remove the air intake assembly???
Has anyone done this on their EFI 4.9L 300-6 engine???

With reasonable dexterity you should be able to change them without pulling the intake, here some really good pictures. https://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=89488

If you have some help the hood being off would help, but even that is excessive. When I did my valve springs I took the hood and the front wheels off + built a plywood filler for the drivers side so I could lay beside the engine. I keep a few metal card table chairs in the shop to use as step stools for truck under the hood work. Those tend to kick out when you lean into the truck, but a wheel and tire behind them solves that.

Hi,
Well....I'm tall so can handle that.
I had my AC vents not working....
All the air was coming out the defrost vents.
That's what happens when the blend door actuators lose vacumn.
Checked in the engine bay and a vac line was broke coming from the vac tree on the intake manifold.
The vac lines are getting old and brittle.
Got some new 5/32 silicon hose to replace them with!
Thanks for the help!

I just replaced my lines with new lines from www.siliconeintakes.com. You can use the 4mm and 6mm lines as replacements for the original 5/32" and 7/32" lines. I'm 100% happy with them. They are nice and thick too!

I didn't, just had to squeeze my hands in some tight spaces. I had to more-or-less lay on top of the engine to get the lines in the back, but it worked well enough. Make sure to note the position of check valves and re-install them while you're replacing the lines. Also, be sure to replace one line at a time to avoid any confusion.
