Replacing front tank.

He lives in MI though. I'm in central IL and the rust is bad enough here that I have never been able to get a bed off without cutting the bolts out. lol. I envy you guys that don't have to deal with the ridiculous rust.

Yeah, the bed isn't coming off. The previous owner already did the rear tank. I havent found a bolt yet underneath the truck that I havent at least had to heat up to break loose. I got a right angle impact driver that should do the trick.
As far as spraying it goes, I got some stuff from our local Case IH dealer that kicks a**. I use it on everything that i dont want rusty. Its especially bad where I live. Usually we get snow or freezing rain, then a day later its 50 degrees the snw melts the salt dissolves and goes right in withthe dirt on our roads. It ruins vehicles.

ya i bought my truck when i lived in MN so it has rust and i mean it has got a ton of it. but a year ago i picked up a rust free bed for under 100 bucks and when i took the old one off i cut the bolts. now with new bolts any time i need to do a repair back there i lift the bed off. little by little the rust is being repaired

I eventually want to either find a nicer one to restore or take the time and do this one. There are a ton of them around here, even some cherry ones. But, I just gotta pry one away from the older guys who have them. The bed is about shot on this one, and i got a pretty good crease I have no idea how to get rid of right directly in the middle of the back of the cab from the previous owner. Other fhan that the truck isn't to terrible.
It's a been a slow process but after i get done up in the U.P. I will have the money and time to tackle it. Right now I'm just a poor college kid, lol.

Ok. Got the old tank dropped and everything discnnected but one fuel line. The one i cant get is a tad bit larger than the other one. The collar is alot longer and the the tabs from what i can see are wider. My tool and three others will not work on it. I bought the next size up and that is too large. any ideas?
*UPDATE* After working on that line for over two hours, I got pissed. Ended up cutting the line on the junk pump. Made a good handle out of duct tape at the bend, Got my crappy little tool, arranged my body in the fetal position for maximum leverage and went beast mode. I ended snapping the tool in half the exact moment it popped off. Also, Im now about 72% sure I have a hernia...

I guess info is too late, but I found a set of fuel line coller disconnects at NAPA and was able to do lines to both tanks, and fuel filter. I think there were 5 sizes. They are plastic, inexpensive, and being plastic they were not intended for long life. It wlll help to reinstall though.

I actually didnt damage them. I have the the angled plastic disconnects. thats what broke. Its weird because the line that was giving me problems looks newer than the other. The collar is alot deeper and i really had to force the tool way farther in than the other line. I still think I barely got it far enough to pop it. Even the prongs are twice as wide and more heavy duty than the other line. Ive seen quick connect lines before that had plastic inserts already built in that you press to release the line but idk if this is one that somebody messed with or not.
