I have a 92 f150 with OD tranny but the OD doesn't seem to be working. Well dont know if it's always on or off. I try to push the button on the shifter but nothing happens. Anybody have any ideas?

drive down the road at about 45 and push it if the od was on it would bogg the truck when you pushed it.
and to the opposite if it was off.


you sure yours has a od transmission? it would most likely be the E4OD if it was,,, i ask this because in the early 90's ford put the C6 in some of the trucks but still had the od button on the shifter but it was non functional and it would light up if you pushed it but it didnt actually do anything.

i know this because we had one of the trucks here at work that was getting serviced they couldnt get the trans filter to fit so they had me look at it since all i own is ford trucks, crawled under the truck and was like thats a C6?? it was a 93 f350 with a 5.8l checked the trans code and sure enough it was a C6.. o'riellys computer just pushed out the part number for the E4OD.

If you push the button while you driveing, around 40-45 mph, it should either kick on or kick off.

Well I'd try when driving or just parked but no light goes on at all. The PO had the tranny rebuilt and on paper work it says it has OD.

By the way the cruise control does not work either no lights go on. Just wondering if they both be because of same reason.
