Default rear fuel tank doesnt work

i have an 88 f150 with the 302 automatic and my rear fuel tank doesnt work.

i still got the front one but i would love to have both of them working. when i flip the switch mas gas gauge reads empty and it is still running off the front tank.

is there an easy fix?

If you search past threads you will find many posts about this. Fuel selector valve may be stuck (on frame under driver side) have a corroded connection, dash switch bad, or rear low pressure pump in the tank is bad.

Are you sure the there is a problem with the tank/pump? Could be a gauge problem.

Had a pump problem with my front tank a little over a year ago. I replaced just the front pump, but after probably 2 months it quit again. Ended up having similar problems with the rear tank shortly after.

After all of this I figured out my problem was that there was too much rust and other gunk in the both tanks, so I got new tanks and pumps and have been problem free for over 15,000 miles

Use the search function...or browse. There are hundreds of threads on this. Here is a good video guide that will give you some pointers.

Most gas gauges on these trucks don't work. I'm sure you're not running off the front with the rear selected, just nonfunctional gauge making it seem that way.

ima do that and if that isnt it ima replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. i found a thread in here about the low pressure pump in the rear not working so it still pulls gas out from the front tank. ill let you know when i get it fixed.
