Rear brakes pictures
Several months ago someone posted a picture of assembled rear brakes without a drum. I can't find it now . Can you please post it again? I'm afraid i'll be confused by a parking brake adjuster while I'll be putting things back on.

On other hand it's a good way to increase creativity - I never know what exactly I will get from a set of parts... And the fact that I now have 2 complete sets of rear brake parts (one from my truck, one from some Explorer) and a repair kit, simply scares me because I really don't want to get a truck with 6 brake shoes... If seriously - getting pissed off by a drum going like "I will stay on this axle forever - we've been together for a veeery looong time to change anything" doesn't really help to keep one side as a sample...

I sent the name of the poster and date, it didn't take. I'll try again: Fordman4life, date was 6-1-09. Sorry about that, guess I forgot to push the submit reply button. Dumby me.

The Chilton manual has good pictures and a diagram.
I had to make 3 trips to the junkyard before I was able to reassemble fully working rear drums. Hampster - if you need the chilton drawings, I can scan and send to you.
Something to watch out for --- The drivers and passenger side use different "self adjuster" parts. The little wheel that you adjust to get the drums on and off works opposite for the other side ( - one has one line machined into the barrel - the other has two.) - and the self adjust "Lever" is different too - it should be stamped with an "L" or an "R".
Good luck -

best thing to do is take it off and lay it below the backing plate flat on the ground just like you took it off....
I have been doing it this way for 20 years..just a darn old habit I guess but once it's off it looks the same laying on the ground...then you put the new shoes on and then add back the parts you need...you see by laying them down just where they go..

Thank you all for your help guys, I guess that link provided by Dewman and Good Old Bill should be enough for me. FedEx, I really appriciate your offer, but I have to get the truck running today (my Lada is dead again), so there's just not enough time for scanning. Now it's 11:58 am already in here, so I'll stick with my logic and common sence (or my sence of humor) to get it running ASAP.

Thanks again guys, your posts really helped - I have brakes bled and fully operational (brakes, but not the truck). I'll post update to this thread a bit later.
