Default Rear Antilock light comes on every now and then...

91 F150 XLT Lariat 5.0 2wd. Not sure why it comes on? Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary driving wise... So what's the deal?

Does the brake light come on at the same time or just the ABS?

Well the only way to know for sure is pulling the ABS code, but you can only do that when the light is on.

I have no idea if what I'm about to tell you is what caused my 92 to do the same thing, but here is my experience from a couple weeks ago.

Out of nowhere, my abs light (not brake light) started coming on and going off sporadically. At the same time, I noticed a bad trans fluid leak. Turned out to be a loose transmission line, which I repaired in about 2 minutes. I topped off the fluid and haven't seen the light since. May have just been a coincidence. Honestly, I never even researched it because the problem appears to be fixed.

So....maybe check the transmission fluid just for the heck of it.

Check your vacuum hoses. Last time my ABS light came on, it turned out to be one of the vacuum hoses to the vacuum bottle had come off. I put it back on and the light went off.

Yeah you'll have to check ABS codes.

I never cared enough to remember. The ABS on these trucks is mostly for decoration.

Google search for checking ABS codes. It's similar to checking obd codes.
