These come in real handy for this kind of Mod (see customer reviews): http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main...products_id=41

Springer Spaniels Rule
There are no real gains that could be felt or noticed on a stock engine, as stated before you will need other upgrades to notice any real increase in mph and hp.

This is because MAP adjusts air to fuel ratio based on manifold pressure. As opposed to MAF, which adjust's the ratio based on real time actual air flow.
So w/ MAP, anything anything above allowable fuel trim, leaves you lean rather than w/ more HP. W/ MAF, it is much more capable of accommodating the increased flow. It actually is aware of the increased flow.
This is not to say a little extra air flow isn't appreciated w/ MAP engines. Which is why I use a K&N drop in filter, in my stock airbox & switched my stock air intake snorkel of a smaller diameter through the grill, to a larger diameter snorkel that pulls air from over top of & in front of the radiator. I think I took it of a junkyard 5.8 engine.
MAF is a different story. I suppose you could keep shoving air down it's throat until you reach the max of your injectors ability to accommodate.
Back to MAP, you have more injector capacity there, but the EEC won't allow it to be tapped. So before you see those big time increases in horsepower, you will see "Lean". The next work in my dictionary after lean, is Ping. Especially if you bump you base time advance like many of us do.
Do I notice a difference with "my" set up with my MAP engine? Yep!
Was the $5o drop-in filter/ $5 junkyard snorkel mod & a few hour's invested worth it? Yep!
Can I still run 16BTDC base time advance w/o ping w/ 87 octane? Yep!
