Mystery wire / grounding
Hey, I'm just finishing up an engine swap and can't figgure out what a wire is. Truck is a 1987 5.0 EFI 4x4.
The wire is at the back of the intake, it's orange (faded but I think it's orange) and I don't see any stripe or anything, and when the truck has power it has about 3v on it. It comes out of the harness along with a 2 wire connector to a sensor mounted vertically on the back of the engine... Seems like grounding it would be a bad idea.
What the heck is this and what is it supposed to be connected to?
Also, how is the frame usually grounded to the battery? is there supposed to be a large ground between the engine ground and the frame? Is there a smaller ground connection somewhere? I just used a jumper between the neg terminal and the frame but obviously I need something better / permenant...
Another question, when I hit the ignition and the fuel pump runs, no fuel comes out of the line. Do I need to prime this somehow?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

ok, so checked the wiring diagrams; the temp and oil pressure leads are red / white and white / red. So I know it's not those.
There is a wire (number 89, orange) coming from the EEC. The diagram shows it going through a connector (C-461) coming out the other side as a black (#57) and grounding. I don't have this connector, it's just an orange ending in a ring terminal. Is it safe to assume I can just ground this? I really don't want to fry anything.
Also, turning the key again and again the fuel pump runs but nothing is flowing. I also put on a new filter... does it take more than 5 times turning the key to fill the filter?

SO, I tapped a hole on the frame and grounded it with a #2 cable to the motor so grounding is good... Also, after a ton of key flipping I got fresh fuel...
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but I still have a mystery wire.
Is it normal to see some voltage comming off the EEC and being grounded? I have no idea and I'm not about to fry my harness...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
