Question Programmer For 96 F150 302

Hello all,
I am just wondering if a programmer such as an SCT or Hypertech programmer would make any performance differences on my mostly stock 96 2wd 5.0 F150? Horsepower, torque, mpg, would there be any differences with a proper tune?
Anybody's input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Give it a good tuneup. If you want to get a little more of it's original snap back, change your timing chain. No point putting a fancy programming unit on a truck with the original timing chain. Ask a mechanic about that one.

Nothing wrong with doing it if the chain isn't stretched really bad.

You can advance your own timing. No need to pay $250 for that!!!
