Default Price for seats in a junkyard?

I'm in desperate need of a passenger seat as I've been driving around with only a driver seat for over a month now while I was waiting to get my old seats rebuilt, but I don't have the money anymore.

I'm wondering what an acceptable price for a bench seat in a junkyard would be? Im strapped on cash and can't afford to get ripped off by some jackass who thinks his parts are worth a lot. I got the adjustable driver seat w/armrest from a junkyard that I currently use, for $100 (even/no tax).

(also, I have a 1995 f-150 single cab flareside automatic 2wd, if that makes any difference)

Don't ask how much, tell them what you want to pay. If the part doesn't sell then they only get scrap weight for it which would be about $5 if that.

Even if I do name my own price, what should I try? $100? $200?

You can always go up some, but you can never go down. If they will not put a price on it, low-ball it and work from there.

They are ultimately dealing with a product that has an expiration date - soft stuff will not last nearly as long as everything else on the vehicle...

I am going to comb the U-pull yards in the area for a blue cloth seat when the weather starts to warm up...

Just look for one you like and pick it apart. It has a tear, it's stained, whatever you have to say. I'd start at $25 and wouldn't go any higher than $100, and at that price it would have to be one bad *** seat.

yea sean is right, i use to deal with junk yards alot when i worked at a body shop, if u find a bench seat check it over good and it may sound weird but SMELL THE SEAT ! Also make sure its not soaked with water. Most light smelles u can get out with bakeing soda a soft brissel brush to work the bakeing soda in then a good vaccum.

Ask them what they want for it first... They may say $40.00. If you were going to toss out a price, you may pay more for no reason

Unfortunately I live in inner-city Houston where prices are a lot higher then places out in the country. The last time I went to the only junkyard out here with a lot of good-shape 93-96 f150's, they wanted $100 for one single bucket seat. I'll try throwing out $50 as a price this time and wont go over $100.
