Potential Engine Swap
Hey guys;
I have a 1996 F-150 4x4 with a 5.8 (351) engine and E4OD transmission... and what ever transfer case would normally be hooked up to that.
I have access to a recently rebuilt 390 big block from a 70's model F-250. The F-250 has title problems and is only 2WD or I'd use the truck as is.
Can this 390 be put into this later model truck without major modifications? Will it mate up to the E4OD? Will it mate up to the motor mounts? Will AC/PS/ALT/ETC bolt up at all?
Thanks
Mike

Dodge+Ford = always ready
from my understanding, no the 390 is a big block, has a different bolt pattern, plus i doubt they use the same patterns for that long. i could be wrong though.

No the 390 (FE series of engines) uses a different bell housing bolt pattern. Highly doubt anything would be a direct swap.
Only engines u can use with the set up u have is a 302 or another 351.

Bummed... but what I thought
Thanks for the input guys... I had a feeling there would be more problems than it would solve.
I will likely look again at the title mess to see if it can be salvaged.
