Spark Plugs - What works for you?
In reading this forum in general, I've found that the very brand of spark plugs I love the most are probably the most hated on this forum. That would be Bosch Platinum Plus spark plugs. I've heard of all kinds of horror stories about how they can't handle heat and how they'll break and destroy your engine and all of this stuff. Well, my question is what works for you? What should I try? Honestly, when I first bought my truck, I put a set of Bosch Platinums in it and I haven't lost my engine yet and it runs good from what I see. I'm sure somebody is going to pop up here in a second and say GET THEM OUT RIGHT NOW!!! I've used Bosch Platinums I guess for well over 10 years at this point and I don't see what everyone is talking about. When I install plugs I always double check the part number, make sure they are properly gapped, use anti-seize and dielectric grease. No problems what so ever to report. I don't use the ones with 2 or 4 tips because from past experiments, it looked like I lost MPGs, I just use the ones with one tip.
At any rate, what are your thoughts about spark plugs in these trucks?
My truck is a 1990 302/5.0L.

They cost me a couple pistons, but if they float your boat!
I use Mororcraft copper core for a few reasons. Also I don't need a plug that self cleans & last 50K miles. I like to keep a closer eye on them than to wait 50K miles & if I "have" a fowling situation, I want to know about it immediately.
Then there's the extra high temps plats generate in the combustion chambers that they are poor at transferring away from.

Use'm
If you've been using Bosch for over 10 yrs. with no trouble, then asking about them now is a little late. I use Champions and have never had any problems. But use what what works best for you, your the 1 who no's yer truck/vehicles the best. Like was noted before,.... if it works for you then keep up the good work!

Expensive platinum plugs have no effect what so ever in our engines, they are a waste of money, I use ac rapidfire plugs, I have the same set of plugs I use in various engines, I just clean, regap, and reuse.

I run Autolite or Motorcraft for Ford's. AC in GM's. NGK in foreign usually. I believe that Ford plugs (Autolite/Motorcraft) work best in Fords and likewise for the rest. They make their plugs to fit their engines. Everybody else just makes ones that will work. If you want copper or platinum... that's up to you. Sometimes they last longer. Sometimes they don't.

It's only Achilles heel is, the gap should not be altered, as in stretched. I run a 60K HV coil & stretch my plug gap .010 wider than stock, otherwise I would still be running the A/C delco Rapidfire Finewires.
Assuming A/C delco doesn't make something called "rapidfire" that isn't a finewire.
