Pics- Just Bought A '95 XL
I think I got kinda lucky. I was looking for an older truck to just use near home for big box store and dump runs, etc.
This is what I got:
http://s978.photobucket.com/user/Pic...?sort=3&page=1
It's a stripped model, which is what I prefer. (A/C, P/S, P/B, Dual Tanks) It has 86,000 miles on it. It has ZERO rust. It was apparently well maintained for most of its life. Recently, it sat outside, unused for an undetermined period of time. These pics are after a loooong cleaning.
There's a dent in the right side fender that just occurred not long before I bought it. Other than that, no body damage.
Is seat upholstery available for it? I haven't had any luck finding any.
It also needs a clutch. I see 10" and 11" listed. Any way to tell what's in it? It's a 300 six w/ a 5spd.
Are the dual tanks standard? It doesn't have many (any?) options. Would dual tanks be a common option?
Other than doing the clutch, I'd like to repair the seat and the dent.
The A/C doesn't work; I'll address that later.
I appreciate any help, and look forward to contributing to the forum!

Nice clean truck. I see lots of potential. First thing I would do is paint the bumpers black to match the grill, or start finding chrome XLT parts - either would look good with that color.
Your transmission is a Mazda M5ODR2 - You want to buy that clutch, not the one for the ZF transmission variety.
Dual tanks are pretty common - its a Standard cab Long bed so you have a 19 gallon front tank and an 18 gallon rear. Throw a little gas in both and make sure both of your fuel pumps work.
A/C could just be a leak or could be something more serious like the compressor clutch.
Congrats and welcome to the forum.

On the compressor clutch issue, fixing those is fairly easy, and a little pricey (ranged from simply $20 for bearing to $125 for a whole clutch assembly). Do NOT just let it go as is! If it is the clutch, it WILL seize eventually if you don't fix it! Then you may need a whole new compressor, which is MUCH MUCH more expensive!

Thanks for all of the congrats and welcomes!
I don't know how to multi-quote, so I'll just reply in general:
-I like the chrome front stuff, and I think I'll use a roll pan on the rear. And being on the older side (56), I'm thinking of chrome reverse with smoothie hubcaps. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/crr-3135705p I've wanted a set of those since I was a teenager but have never had a vehiclele that was appropriate for them.
-Mazda trans, got it. I'll use whatever clutch (10" or 11") it has in it.
-The seller put a front tank in it. Apparently, some past owner never used it and it got gunked up. The gauge reads the same regardless of the switch position. (I put gas in each tank.) I guess I'll see if I hear each pump prime depending on switch position?
-I've only check the A/C fuse so far. I'm guessing the freon is low because it sat for some time. I hope it's not a bad leak. I'll look into the clutch, too. I'll do it sooner than later, as to not ruin the compressor.
I figured I be buying something that wasn't very good looking, and wasn't thinking about wheels, etc. This one will even deserve a wax job or two!
Am I out of luck on upholstery? They make it for tons of vehicles, but I haven't found it for this one. I guess I'll have to price it a the local upholstery shop.
My priority is the clutch. I need the truck now. It's in the garage and I'll start on it tomorrow.
Thanks again!
