Default Oil Pressure Sending Switch?

Couple of questions for you guys:

Looks like my oil pressure sending switch is leaking oil as seen in the photo. When I went to Auto Zone, the counter help said he had two different kind of switches for this vehicle (95 F150 XL V6 manual), "one with a light and one without." I didn't know how to answer the question. Not only that, the two switches were different in appearance so I couldn't completely match it up from what it looks like I have. Does anyone know which one to select or will either work just as fine for this specific pickup?

Also, from the pictures of the new switch, it appears as though it's threaded on top. Does the wire coming out of it just pop on and off or does it screw on there and reconnect elsewhere?

Last question, is a special socket required to change this out or does it just screw out and the new one screw in with a pair of Channellocks?

Thanks for any advice and help.

Hmmmmm.....one is for a light and one is for a gauge. Do you have a light or a gauge? No special socket. 24mm I believe. $5 or $6 bucks. DO NOT BUY the oil pressure sending unit socket for $20! The parts guy will laugh at you behind your back on your way out of the store. No Channel locks! No vice grips! 24mm 12 point socket. It's too dark to go dig through my tool box, but I think it's a 12 point. Get your new one out of the box and stick it in the 12 point and 6 point socket at the parts store and see for sure.

Also - if they tried to sell you a sending unit for a 95 F150 V6........walk out and go to O'reilly Auto Parts! Don't turn back.

Hmm, not sure if I have an oil light in the 95 F150 V6 manual. I have the needle for oil pressure but I understand it's not a true gauge and only indicates that you have pressure or you don't - not sure if that's true or not.

Without light. It's not a V6 either. Kinda one of my pet peeves. It's Fire Breathing Gasoline Diesel called a Straight Six. No V to it. Lol

ha You're right! I'm just used to saying "V6" for some reason. You're right - Straight 6 - Inline 6! rAr!

If you have a needle then you have a gauge.
